Impact That Lasts Beyond the Screen and Stage

The Big Bear Film Festival is more than a weeklong celebration of storytelling — it’s a movement with year-round impact. Through the Big Bear Film Institute, community programs, and educational initiatives, BBFF empowers creators, uplifts local voices, and drives cultural and economic growth in the mountains and beyond.

The Big Bear Film Institute & Office

The Big Bear Film Institute (BBFI) and future Film Office is the heart of our mission. Relaunched alongside the festival, the Institute is dedicated to supporting underrepresented voices, incubating original ideas, and fostering interdisciplinary storytelling. BBFI serves as a hub for creators across film, television, music, gaming, comedy, animation, and emerging media. Through labs, panels, residencies, and mentorship programs, the Institute nurtures bold talent and connects them with industry leaders and audiences.

Supporting Big Bear, Every Step of the Way

BBFF is deeply rooted in Big Bear. We collaborate with local businesses, schools, and cultural organizations to ensure the festival benefits the community. Our programming highlights locally produced films like Big Bear Move and Shadows of Willow Cabin, while our partnerships with Visit Big Bear and Care for Big Bear fuel sustainable tourism, hospitality, and environmental stewardship. With more than 8,000 expected attendees and global media reach, BBFF brings lasting economic and cultural impact to the mountain.

Building Tomorrow’s Storytellers

From youth education programs to professional labs, BBFF nurtures emerging voices. Our initiatives include writing workshops, AI storytelling labs, and filmmaker residencies designed to empower creators from underrepresented communities.
